The Role
This is not a management-from-a-distance role. We’re looking for a creative leader who still makes — someone who can set the visual standard for the agency while personally producing work at the highest level.
As Head of Art, you will define and protect the visual identity of every project that passes through Almost Impossible. You’ll lead a team of designers, art directors, and visual thinkers — but you’ll also roll up your sleeves and build alongside them.
You’ll work directly with the founding team, embedded in every major brand and campaign initiative, with the authority and autonomy to push boundaries across every medium.
What You Will Do
Lead craft from the front
- Set the benchmark for visual quality across all agency output
- Personally concept and execute on flagship projects
- Review and elevate all creative work before client delivery
Be hands-on
- Design brand systems, campaign visuals, digital products, and spatial graphics
- Develop motion language, illustration direction, and editorial layouts when needed
- Prototype visual concepts rapidly — from sketch to screen
Mentor through example
- Lead without ego — teach by doing, not by delegating
- Provide detailed, constructive feedback that makes the team sharper
- Build a culture where craft is non-negotiable and ideas are fearless
Shape visual direction
- Establish and maintain agency-wide design standards and systems
- Translate strategic intent into bold, distinctive creative directions
- Push visual storytelling beyond what clients expect
- Stay ahead of design, culture, and technology trends
Oversee multi-disciplinary output
- Brand identity and systems
- Campaign art direction
- Digital product design
- Social and content design
- Packaging and print design
- Spatial and environmental graphics
Protect the details
- Ensure consistency and precision across all touchpoints
- Own the final quality check on all creative deliverables
- Champion typography, layout, colour, and composition standards
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years in design or art direction, with at least 3 in a senior creative leadership role
- A portfolio that demonstrates world-class craft across multiple disciplines
- Proven ability to lead teams while staying hands-on
- Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to translate strategy into visual direction
- Experience working with premium or global brands
- Fluency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with motion/3D tools
This Role Is Not For You If
- You prefer managing from a distance and no longer enjoy making work yourself
- You are looking for a purely strategic role with no production involvement
- You are uncomfortable with direct, honest creative feedback
